Who We Are

The Community Home Detox Service (CHDS) provides community-based withdrawal treatment, and assessments under the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 2017 (SACAT).

CHDS supports people who require medical or nursing care for substance withdrawal while remaining in their own homes or community settings.

The service uses a multidisciplinary, harm-reduction and strengths-based approach, defining recovery as self-directed across the continuum of abstinence and harm reduction.

Where We Are Based

Auckland Region – covering Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, Auckland, and Counties Manukau
Service provided from all CADS sites and satellite clinics, with outreach to homes and community settings as required.

Our Service

  • Community-based service – no residential beds
  • Clinic or home visits arranged as needed

Duration of Stay

  • Duration varies according to individual treatment needs and medical plan

What We Offer

  • Registered-nurse and medical assessment of withdrawal and treatment needs
  • Medication titration and management if clinically indicated
  • Access to all CADS services including group, family/whānau, and cultural supports
  • Multidisciplinary coordination with primary care and community providers
  • Whānau engagement through facilitated family sessions and inclusive planning
  • Assessment and coordination for SACAT applications and treatment
