Who We Are

Dual diagnosis is a specialist service for people adversely affected bysubstance use and mental illness. It provides Alcohol and Drug treatment forclients engaged with Mental Health services who are experiencing co-existingchallenges related to substance use. The service works collaboratively withinpatient and outpatient mental health teams.

Where We Are Based

This is an outreach service offered across North Shore, South, Central, and West Auckland.

Our Service

CADS Dual Diagnosis is a mobile specialist service for people who:

  • Are engaged with Mental Health Services in Auckland
  • Have an Axis 1 mental health diagnosis
  • Are experiencing challenges with alcohol or other drug use
  • Have co-existing problems impacting functioning to a degree that outreach support is required

The Dual diagnosis service offers:

  • Assessment of people’s use of substances and the associated impacts
  • Collaborative work with individuals and their support people to improve quality of life
  • Partnership with inpatient mental health teams or CMHC clinicians and psychiatrists
  • Personalised outreach support for alcohol and drug concerns, tailored to the individual's needs
