Who We Are
Ember Poutama is a Level 4 dual diagnosis residential programme for adults experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges.
The service provides a group-based programme supported by 1:1 key-working, using therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
The programme supports each client holistically, focusing on strengths, goals, and individual recovery journeys.

What We Offer
- Group sessions covering relapse prevention, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and life skills
- One-to-one key-working focused on personal goals, barriers, and strategies for change
- Relapse prevention and resilience-building supports
- Alcohol and other drug (AOD) recovery skills and harm-reduction education
- Social-skills development and communication support
- Whānau-inclusive planning and facilitated family sessions
- Cultural support through Ember’s Te Ahi Kaa – access to kaumātua/kuia, tikanga-based practices, and cultural identity strengthening
- Vocational and educational support through goal setting and external referrals
- Aftercare and supported transition, including links to community services and peer-support networks
