Who We Are
Ka Puta Ka Ora – The Bach provides brief planned respite for rangatahi aged 16 to 24 years experiencing mental health and/or addiction needs.
The service offers a safe, home-like environment where young people can take time away to stabilise, reset, and strengthen wellbeing while remaining connected to their wider supports.
Family / whānau engagement is encouraged to promote a nurturing and collaborative environment for growth and recovery.

Our Accommodation
- 4 beds (unisex – for rangatahi 16 to 24 years)
- Single-room accommodation with shared bathroom facilities
- Homely environment with meals provided and access to computers for education continuity
Duration of Stay
- Brief respite, typically short-term planned stays
What We Offer
- Group work – psychoeducation, relapse prevention, skills-based groups
- One-on-one counselling – CBT, MI, trauma-informed approaches
- Whānau engagement – facilitated family sessions and inclusive planning
- Cultural support – access to kaumātua/kuia, tikanga-based practices, and cultural identity strengthening
- Flexible mix of overnight and day placements tailored to individual needs
- Coordination with Waitematā DHB CAMHS and Te Whatu Ora community mental health teams
