Who We Are

Kāhui Tū Kaha is a provider of community mental health and addiction, and social housing services across the Auckland Metro area and additional social housing services in Whangārei.

Our services are free and range from individual support, recovery, life skills and whānau support groups for all populations.

Where We Are Based

Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waitematā.

Accommodation and social housing services are also provided in Auckland, Whangārei and Dargaville.

Our Accommodation

Transitional Housing

• Ara Whakawhiti – Transitional housing across multiple sites. South, East, West & Central Auckland, Whangārei
• Āhuru Pūmanawa – Transitional housing for all who identify as transgender. Central Auckland
• Aka Matua – Transitional housing for rangatahi eligible for the social housing register. Ōtara, Māngere, Manurewa & Ōtāhuhu, Auckland

Youth Housing

• Māhuri – Supported accommodation for rangatahi aged 16–21 transitioning from Oranga Tamariki to independent living. Auckland

Permanent Housing & Intensive Support

• Whare Taupua – Kaupapa Māori support for chronic homelessness. Auckland
• Fale ko Lata’anga – Supporting Pacific people and other ethnicities into long-term housing. Auckland
• Kāinga Pūmanawa – Supporting people who have been chronically homeless into long-term housing. Whangārei

Rapid Rehousing

• Kāinga Āhuru – Long-term housing and support for people who have been homeless for 6–9 months. Auckland, Whangārei

Reintegration

• Hiki Mana, Hiki Ora – Housing and support for people who have served long-term prison sentences. Auckland, Whangārei
• Te Hokinga Mai – Raki – Out of Gate support for tangata serving a short sentence and those on remand to reintegrate into the community. Auckland

Tenancy Support

• Whare Toko – Tenancy support in Auckland, Whangārei and Dargaville

Te Mātāwai

• Supported housing at Greys Avenue in central Auckland, provided in partnership with Kāinga Ora, with 24/7 support including cultural support

Duration of Stay

Duration varies depending on the housing or support service.

• Māhuri: Average stay of 28 weeks (2025 reporting period)
• Permanent Housing & Intensive Support: Long-term housing and ongoing support
• Rapid Rehousing: Long-term housing and support
• Transitional Housing: Semi-permanent housing and support
