Who We Are
Nova Trust provides a range of residential addiction treatment and rehabilitation programmes in a rural setting on the outskirts of Christchurch.
Services include Nova Recovery, Nova STAR, and Nova Respite, supporting adults affected by alcohol and other drug dependence.
The Trust takes a holistic approach to treatment and reintegration, combining group work, outdoor activity, and intensive case management to help tāngata whai ora achieve sustained recovery.
Where We Are Based
Christchurch, Canterbury – rural setting on the outskirts of the city
Our Accommodation
- Nova Recovery: 28 regionally funded beds (including Respite)
- Nova STAR: 9 beds funded by the Ministry of Health, allocated by region
- Nova Respite: Short-term 2-bed facility
Duration of Stay
- Nova Recovery: 12 weeks
- Nova STAR: 56 days (+ possible additional 56 days if clinically indicated)
- Nova Respite: Up to 4 weeks

- One-on-one case management
- Alcohol and Drug Cognitive Enhancement (ACE) and Cognitive Remediation programmes
- AA / NA sessions
- Family / whānau support
- Cultural support (Māori or Pasifika models)
- Help with work skills and outdoor employment pathways through Nova Fresh and Nova Natives social enterprises
- Support when leaving the programme (discharge and resettlement planning)
- Nursing, medical, and psychological care
