Who We Are
Timatanga Hou is a planned-admission detoxification unit that specialises in providing a safe and supportive environment for people withdrawing from substances of addiction.
The service delivers both social and/or medical detoxification for adults and supports each person through a recovery-focused process with clinical, cultural, and whānau involvement.

- 8 adult beds (unisex)
- 24/7 staffed unit
Duration of Stay
- Typical length of stay: 2 weeks
What We Offer
- Group sessions (two per day including skills-based and peer-led workshops, AA/NA)
- One-on-one support
- Family / whānau inclusion (approved visits and involvement in planning)
- Cultural support (Takawaenga available via referral and leads a group in the unit)
- Registered and enrolled nurses and health care assistants on each shift
- Help with work skills or study
- Aftercare – recovery transition planning and discharge meeting with chosen supports
