Who We Are
Wings Manu Wairua Trust provides an effective, confidential, abstinence-based residential treatment programme supporting people experiencing alcohol, substance, and gambling harms.
Operating as an adapted Therapeutic Community, the service helps adults (18 years +) develop strategies to cope with daily life without substance or gambling use, supported by experienced staff and a structured recovery environment.
Where We Are Based
109 Valley Road, Mt Eden, Auckland, with recovery houses in the surrounding area.
We accept people from the greater Auckland area – from Tuakau to Wellsford – and Northland.
Our Accommodation
- 35 adult beds across eight houses (male, female, and non-binary options)
- 1 Gambling Harm bed referred by Hoake (PGF Services)
Duration of Stay
- New Beginnings Programme: 8 weeks (2 months) – pre-treatment readiness
- Community Reintegration Programme: 16 weeks (4 months) – post-treatment transition
- Home Host Programme: up to 12 months – independent living with counselling access
- Level Four Independent Living Programme: 12 months
What We Offer
- Group sessions (meeting others in recovery)
- One-on-one counselling (DBT, CBT, MI, Trauma-informed, IFS)
- Family / whānau sessions and eight-week Outpatient Whānau Group
- Cultural leadership, Tikanga-informed practice, Te Reo programme, kapa haka, annual cultural events
- Community-led groups: 12-Step meetings, sports, fitness, Pasifika and parenting support
- Vocational support (education, volunteering, employment readiness)
- Aftercare (supported transition planning, peer support, ongoing connection to community services)
