Leadership Development

The AOD Provider Collaborative funds one-off leadership development opportunities for the addiction workforce working with the Counties Manukau community. These have included:

Training Provider

Leaders as Coaches: Developing people and performance Aly McNicoll, NZ Coaching & Mentoring Centre

 

The Collaborative has also developed a leadership development programme.

The AOD Provider Collaborative Leadership Development Programme

In 2017, Aly McNicoll from the NZ Coaching & Mentoring Centre, worked with the AOD Provider Collaborative to develop a programme for new and emerging leaders within the workforce. Participants came from addiction, mental health, peer support and primary care services.

This programme consisted of an applied leadership project, coaching, guest speakers and eight monthly teaching sessions which covered the following topics:

  • Stepping up to leadership, including the Strengths Finder Profile
  • Peer coaching
  • Leading projects
  • Leading in a multi-cultural environment
  • Difficult conversations
  • Presentation skills
  • Collaboration and community engagement
  • Leading change
  • Resilience and self-care.

 

Senior Leaders Series

A series of three events were organized for senior leaders to explore key themes identified through consultation, and to allow for professional networking and support. The events were focused on:

  1. Vision, Culture and Direction. Presented by Cindy Lincoln, Cerito Ltd.
  2. Isolation and Sustaining Ourselves. Presented by Janis Grummitt, Workplace Wisdom
  3. Developing Future Leaders. Dr. Monique Faleafa, Le Va.
